Painting Pottery

I've found a new outlet...painting pottery. On Good Friday I spent the day with my friend Tina. While we were at lunch she suggested we paint pottery. I had never done it before but after she told me all about it I was willing to give it a try. The studio we went to is a small but well organized and fully stocked with many ceramic pieces to choose from and many, many paint colors to choose from. After spending a while looking at all the different pieces to choose from, I chose a chunky mug and had the best time painting it. When we were done for the day I was skeptical, all the colors I had used after drying seemed to all blend together and I couldn't imagine what is was going to look like. We left the pieces there to be fired and they were ready a few days later. WoW! was I pleasantly surprised...all the colors came out the way I'd planned and I was quite happy with my first effort. I made it planning to use it atop a white cabinet in my kitchen with a plant in it. I must say it looks pretty good setting up there.
